Add Internal User

Overview

The Add Internal User page allows administrators to manually create a new local user account.

Unlike LDAP or Single Sign-On (SSO) users, an internal user is created entirely within the system using administrator-provided information.

Once the user is created, the account is assigned the system's default namespace. No additional permissions are granted automatically. Administrators must assign the required permissions before the user can access system resources.

Access Requirements

To access this page, the user must either have Administrator privileges or the CREATE permission for the Users module.

The CREATE permission allows users to create new user accounts. Users without administrator privileges or the required permission cannot access this page.

Users without the required authorization will receive the following error:

Access Denied

You don't have access to this resource.

Authorization

Before creating an internal user, ensure that:

  • You have administrator privileges.
  • The username is unique.
  • The email address is valid.
  • The user information is complete.

User Information

The following user information must be provided:

Field Required Description
First Name Yes User's first name.
Last Name Yes User's last name.
Email Yes User's email address.
Is Active Yes Indicates whether the account is active. This field is enabled by default and cannot be modified during user creation.

Credentials

The following credentials are required to create the account:

Field Required Description

User Creation Process

To create an internal user:

  1. Open the Add Internal User page.
  2. Enter the user's personal information.
  3. Provide the account credentials.
  4. Verify the entered information.
  5. Click Save.

After the user is successfully created:

  • The account is created as an active user.
  • The user is assigned to the system's default namespace.
  • No additional permissions are assigned automatically.
  • The user is created as a standard user.
  • An administrator must assign the appropriate permissions before the user can access system resources.

Default Behavior

The system applies the following defaults when creating an internal user:

  • Is Active is enabled by default and cannot be modified during user creation.
  • The user is assigned to the default namespace.
  • No resource permissions are assigned automatically.
  • The user is created as a standard (non-administrator) user.

Administrator privileges can be granted later if required.

Validation

The following validations are performed before the user is created:

  • All required fields must be completed.
  • The username must be unique.
  • The email address must be in a valid format.
  • Password and Confirm Password must match.

Notes

  • Internal users authenticate using the local authentication mechanism.
  • Newly created users cannot access system resources until the required permissions have been assigned.
  • Permissions are managed separately through the Permissions module.
