Namespaces
The Namespaces page is used to create and manage namespaces under the selected Catalog.
A namespace provides a logical structure for organizing and separating data within a Catalog.
Namespaces can be created with File or JDBC types. Depending on the selected type, connection and property information can be configured when creating a namespace.
Namespaces Page
The Namespaces page displays the existing namespaces that belong to the selected Catalog.
Records can be displayed using List View or Card View.
To create a new namespace, use the Add Namespace button in the upper-right section of the page.
List View
In List View, namespaces are displayed in a table.
The following information is displayed:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Displays the display name and name of the namespace. |
| Description | Displays the description defined for the namespace. |
| Namespace Type | Displays the type of the namespace. |
| Create Date | Displays the date and time when the namespace was created. |
| Update Date | Displays the date and time when the namespace was last updated. |
| Status | Displays whether the namespace is active or inactive. |
The three-dot menu on the right side of each record provides access to the available namespace actions.
Sorting
Supported columns in List View can be sorted.
The sorting control in the column header can be used to sort records in ascending or descending order.
The following fields support sorting:
- Name
- Namespace Type
- Create Date
- Update Date
- Status
The sorting icon in a column header indicates that the column can be sorted.
Card View
Namespaces can also be displayed as cards.
Each card contains basic information about the namespace.
| Field | Description |
The three-dot menu in the upper-right section of the card provides access to the available namespace actions.
View Options
The Namespaces page supports two different view types:
- List View
- Card View
The view buttons in the upper-right section of the page can be used to switch between the two views.
Changing the view only changes how the namespace records are displayed.
Quick Search
The Filter... field in the upper-right section of the page can be used to quickly search through namespaces.
When a value is entered into the search field, the displayed records are narrowed down to matching results.
This feature makes it easier to find a specific namespace when a Catalog contains many namespaces.
Advanced Filtering
The Filter button next to the quick search field can be used to filter namespaces according to specific criteria.
Multiple filter conditions can be used to narrow down the displayed results further.
Active filters can be cleared when necessary to display all namespaces again.
Adding a Namespace
The Add Namespace button is used to create a new namespace.
When the button is selected, a form opens where the namespace configuration can be defined.
The following basic information can be configured:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Defines the name used for the namespace in the system. |
| Display Name | Defines the name displayed for the namespace in the user interface. |
| Description | Provides descriptive information about the namespace. |
| Namespace Type | Determines the type of the namespace. |
| Connection | Allows a connection to be selected for the namespace. |
| Is Active | Determines whether the namespace is active or inactive. |
| Properties | Allows additional key-value properties to be defined for the namespace. |
Namespace Type
The Namespace Type determines how the namespace is configured and accessed.
The supported types are:
- File
- JDBC
Depending on the selected type, the connection and property information used by the namespace may differ.
File
The File type is used to create a file-based namespace.
When this type is selected, the namespace is configured using the selected connection and defined properties.
JDBC
The JDBC type is used to create a namespace associated with a data source accessible through JDBC.
When this type is selected, the related JDBC connection can be selected to configure the namespace.
Connection
The Connection field is used to select the connection that the namespace will use.
Available connections are displayed according to the selected Namespace Type.
The selected connection is used by the namespace to access the related data source.
Properties
The Properties section is used to define additional configuration values for the namespace.
Each property consists of a key-value pair.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Key | Specifies the name of the property. |
| Value | Specifies the value assigned to the property. |
New properties can be added, and previously added properties can be removed.
This section can be used to provide additional configuration values required by the selected namespace type or connection.
Status
The Is Active option determines whether the namespace is active or inactive.
The current status of the namespace is displayed in both List View and Card View.
- Active: Indicates that the namespace is active.
- Inactive: Indicates that the namespace is inactive.
Saving a Namespace
After the namespace configuration is completed, use the Save button to create the namespace.
The saved namespace is displayed on the Namespaces page of the related Catalog.
The Cancel option can be used to leave the form without saving the changes.
Namespace Actions
Each namespace record contains a three-dot actions menu.
The following actions are available from this menu:
Edit
Edit is used to modify the configuration of an existing namespace.
Namespace information can be updated through the form that opens.
Delete
Delete is used to delete an existing namespace.
After deletion, the namespace is removed from the Namespaces list of the related Catalog.
Pagination
Pagination controls are available at the bottom of the Namespaces page.
The total number of namespace records is displayed in the lower-left section.
For example:
Total 3 records
The pagination controls in the center can be used to:
- Go to the first page.
- Go to the previous page.
- Go to the next page.
- Go to the last page.
- View the current page and the total number of pages.
The Rows per page option in the lower-right section can be used to change the number of namespaces displayed on each page.
