Add Namespace Panel

Overview

The Add Namespace panel allows administrators to create a new root-level workspace (Namespace/Workspace), which represents the highest tier within the DataFloem system hierarchy.

Each newly instantiated Namespace acts as a completely isolated logical environment, independently managing its own internal hierarchy of Folders, Projects, Jobs, Code Flows, and user permission boundaries.

Access Requirements

To access this page, the user must either have Administrator privileges or the CREATE permission for the Namespace module.

The CREATE permission allows users to create new user accounts. Users without administrator privileges or the required permission cannot access this page.

Users without the required authorization will receive the following error:

Access Denied

You don't have access to this resource.

Authorization

Prerequisites

Before creating a new Namespace, ensure that:

  • You possess administrative privileges required to execute root workspace management functions.
  • The designated Namespace name is entirely unique within the system architecture.

Namespace Form Fields

The following operational attributes must be configured within the panel:

Field Required Description
Name Yes The unique identifier for the Namespace, serving as the root anchor for resource paths.
Description No Contextual parameters defining which environment, team, department, or client this workspace is isolated for. Supports up to 200 characters.
Is Active Yes (Toggle) Controls whether the workspace is immediately operational upon deployment. Enabled by default.
Is Default Yes (Toggle) Dictates whether this workspace will serve as the default primary landing zone for the system.

Default Namespace (Is Default) Behavior

  • Enabling the Is Default toggle promotes this Namespace to be the global primary entry point of the platform.
  • Newly registered profiles or users provisioning via external identity managers (LDAP/SSO) for the first time are automatically bound to this environment.
  • Only one Namespace can be designated as the system default at any given time. Activating this flag automatically revokes the default status from the previous holder.

Namespace Creation Process

  1. Click the Add Namespace button on the main repository view to toggle the slide-out interface.
  2. Populate the unique Name and provide an optional structural Description.
  3. Configure the operational Is Active and Is Default state toggles according to governance requirements.
  4. Review the inputs and click Save to commit the workspace to the environment, or click Cancel to abort.

Validation

  • The Name field cannot be left blank or consist solely of whitespace.
  • The Description text boundary must rigorously conform to the 0 - 200 character threshold.
